Presented is a key Joe Kelley card from one of the difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes Type 2 offering that mimics the images of T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. This is one of two variations of the Hall of Famer that were issued with that set, a Kelley Toronto example that is found in a PSA 2 holder and presents in outstanding fashion, with 65/35 centering left to right. The blood-red background color provides one of more compelling presentations in the set and nicely showcases the image of the Hall of Famer; the “Kelley Toronto” typeface in blue is one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts. The Coupon Cigarettes card back similarly presents decently, with some staining and light toning and vivid black printing.
