Offered is one of the key cards from one of the truly difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes set that looks like T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. Among an imposing roster of Hall of Famers is this elegant John McGraw Type 2 – Glove at Side that is found here in an SGC 1 holder. One of two variations in the set, the Hall of Famer manager is one of the keys to this issue; the offered card has 75/25 centering right to left and two significant areas of paper loss on the front, with the Coupon Cigarettes back revealing significant staining and toning. The “McGraw, New York Nat.” typeface in blue on the card front is outstanding and one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts.
