Offered is one of the key cards from one of the truly difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes set that looks like T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. Among an imposing roster of Hall of Famers is this elegant John McGraw Type 2 – Portrait that is found here in a PSA 1.5 holder. One of two variations in the set, the Hall of Famer manager is one of the keys to this issue and certainly one of the more attractive cards in the set; the offered card is outstanding, with vivid blood-red background dramatically showcasing the McGraw Portrait, with good centering, along with the card back being uncommonly clean and crisp, with particularly sharp black printing. The “McGraw, New York Nat.” typeface in blue on the card front is outstanding and one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts.
