Presented is a Johnny Evers card from one of the difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes Type 2 offering that mimics the images of T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. This is a well-known depiction of the Hall of Famer that is found in a PSA 1.5 holder and arguably presents better than its technical grade. The card centering left to right is outstanding and top to bottom, with a bias to the bottom; the pastel yellow and green background colors nicely set off the image of the legendary second sacker, and the “Evers, Boston Nat.” typeface in blue is one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts. The Coupon Cigarettes back is without significant difficulty, save only for some light toning.
