Presented is an important Roger Bresnahan card from one of the difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes offering that mimics the images of T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. This is one of two variations of the Hall of Famer that were issued with that set, a Bresnahan Type 2 Chicago example that is found in a an SGC 1 holder. The card has rounded corners, significant creasing and some paper loss, along with decent centering; the pastel yellow background color sets off the image of the legendary backstop, and the “Bresnahan, Chicago Nat.” typeface in blue is one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts. The Coupon Cigarettes back reveals staining, creasing and toning, along with some paper loss and extraneous pencil notation.
