Presented is an attractive Ty Cobb card from one of the difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes offering that mimics the images of T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. Among the keys are the Ty Cobb cards, including this Portrait example that is found in a PSA Authentic holder due primarily to paper loss from a section on the right side. The card centering is roughly 70/30 both vertically and horizontally; the striking red background color nicely sets off the portrait, and the “Cobb, Detroit” typeface in blue is one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts.
