This is truly a remarkable grouping centering on one of the most beloved teams in baseball history, the Brooklyn Dodgers. Certainly some of the most famous and revered players from several eras found their way to the Borough of Brooklyn, even as the club toiled in the shadow of its famous uptown rivals at the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium. Here are nearly three dozen Dodgers, mostly from the 1930’s to 1950’s, with the vast majority in handsome black and brown or blue wood frames, protecting typically 8-by-10-inch black-and-white photos with careful autographs included on each. Almost all include card show ticket stubs or newspaper advertisement clipping on the back to attest to autograph times and locations. Here’s the breakdown, with all photos black-and-white unless noted otherwise, and with some of the variations to the overall scheme listed at the end: John Babich, Joe Black (color), Don Demeter (color), Carden Gillenwater, Spider Jorgenson, Phil Haugstad, Chris Haughey (2), Gene Hermanski, Tommy Holmes, Joe Landrum, Vic Lombardi, Don Lund (2), Steve Nagy, Sam Nahem, Rocky Nelson, Mickey Owen, Babe Phelps, Tot Pressnell, Bob Ramazotti, Stan Rojek, Mike Sandlock, Johnny Schmitz, Vin Scully and Elmer Valo. There also is: a 6-by-8-inch team postcard of the 1935 Dodgers, with Al Lopez autograph; signed but unmated or framed pictures of Dick Teed, Tony Cuccinello, Woody English, Ron Negray and Eddie Miksis; (2) unsigned First Day Covers matted and framed together of the 1966 and 1981 World Series anniversaries; (2) First Day Covers matted and framed together of the 1977 and 1978 World Series anniversaries; and an oversized 2001 First Day Cover depicting Ebbets Field, matted and framed to 8-by-10 dimensions. Most pieces are in basically as-issued and problem-free condition; the glass is cracked on the framed 8-by-10 of Stan Rojek. Simply an amazing opportunity to pick up important autographs of Dodgers from the great to the obscure. All signatures are pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
