This is a really cool old-time auction lot filled with literally hundreds of Hall of Famers and stars, complete sets, smaller boxed sets and even Topps insert posters. It’s truly the type of lot that figuratively begs for close examination, so we’ll provide as much information as we possibly can. We’ll start with a 1955 Bowman No. 7 Frank Gifford (Very Good) and an Alan Ameche from the same important issue (Ex-Mt), plus a 1956 Topps Bobby Layne (Good) and a complete set of the 1968 Topps Insert 5-by-7-inch Posters in Ex to Ex-Mt condition, along with about a dozen of the 1971 Topps Insert Posters, mostly Fair to Very Good, including (2) Namath and (2) Simpson. Then there’s a 1984 Topps Football Complete Set (396) in spectacular Nr-Mt to Mt condition, virtually unimprovable with coveted “vending bend”; 1981 Topps Football Near-Set of (515/528) in essentially uniform Nr-Mt condition with Montana and Monk matching the overall grade range; a 1985 Topps Football Complete Set (396) in a clean, Nr-Mt overall grade and with virtually no chipping of the ultra-sensitive blue borders; a Nr-Mt 1987 Topps Football Complete Set (396); a blazing 1981 Fleer Team Action Football boxed set (88) in Nr-Mt to Mt, with good gloss and colors and solid centering; plus pristine basketball complete sets from 1990-91 Hoops (336), a superb Nr-Mt with essentially little or no chipping of the silver and gold borders, and a 1991-92 Fleer Basketball (400) in the same standout condition. Then there are 400-500 cards mostly from 1980 Topps Football, including HOFers, stars, rookies and specials, essentially in Ex to Ex-Mt condition; perhaps another 400-500 cards from the late 1960’s to 1970’s Topps football (Very Good to Ex-Mt) including about a dozen HOFers; perhaps 100 or so 1980’s Basketball HOFers and stars mostly Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt, including Jordan and virtually all the other major stars of the era. Last and presumably not least, we ran across 18 Sky Box and Topps Marshall Faulk rookie cards in the same upper condition range. In short, it’s an intriguing and fascinating bulk lot that holds significant potential for the savvy bidder able to effectively wade through a lengthy description.
