The great Hall of Famer Willie Mays is portrayed here in a 1989 Hartland 25th Anniversary statue as a member of the New York Mets, the team that Mays joined in 1972 near the end of his fabled career after two decades as a Giant.
The statue was custom painted by the consignor after receiving it unpainted and unassembled, precisely as it came from the factory. The statue shows Willie as a member of the Mets, with the Mets patch on the shoulder. The finished piece has been filled with a ballast inside the statue that makes it heavier than a typical Hartland and provides additional stability and balance.
