This is a wonderful, nostalgic grouping of vintage items, many from the time before the Surgeon General’s first ominous announcement in the 1960’s about how dangerous cigarettes really were. Who knew? Leading off is a 1955 Ohio Match Co. Ex-Mt box of Ohio Blue Tip stick matches, a nice piece with a color illustration of Ted Williams on the top of the box. It’s the iconic follow-through image of Williams, done without use of team insignia and presumably without remuneration to Teddy Ballgame. There’s also a Near-Mint Chesterfield lighter, pristine in the original box with cigarette logo on the lighter and the box. There are also two pristine circa 1930’s Near-Mint books of Diamond Co. match books of Hugh Critz and Earl Grace. Final item is an unopened and cellophane intact package of Homerun Cigarettes, with 20 cigarettes inside and thoroughly prepared to offend the Surgeon General. Virtually every item in the lot is pristine, largely as-issued and problem-free, which is not the same thing as recommending that you try smoking one of those 20 vintage smokes.
