Mickey Lolich proudly wore this Spalding globe during his fabled 16-year career that marked him as one of the top left handers in the American League for much of that span, with a streak of 11 seasons with 14 or more wins, a 217-181 lifetime record, 2,832 strikeouts and 3.44 ERA in his 16-year career. His career-high 25 wins in 1971 came in a year when he managed to pitch 376 innings, a level that had not been reached by a modern hurler since Babe Ruth was still on the hill. The glove shows considerable game use, including some fraying of trim elements and some dirt and staining, primarily on the inside and the pocket. It has the famed Spalding labeling at the wrist band and “Lolich” printed in all-caps marker on the thumb and fourth finger of the right hand. All elements of the Spalding Professional Model 42-2043 glove are present and intact; this is a superb and important artifact from one of the great AL stars of a half-century ago.
