This C243 model Louisville Slugger bat was made for and used by Rod Carew during the 1983-85 time period. It measures 33.75 inches long and weighs 32.9 oz. and is made of professional grade Ash. The bat exhibits heavy use in the form of ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, cleat marks, a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle and swelling from repeated use, but remains uncracked. Carew's jersey number "29" is written on the knob in black marker. This was obviously a favorite of Carew during his last three seasons, two of which were All-Star seasons. He would retire after the 1985 season, with 18 All-Star appearances, seven batting titles and one MVP en route to being a first ballot HOFer in 1991. The bat has been authenticated by both MEARS and PSA/DNA, earning an A9 and GU8, respectively and solidifying this piece as a great investment.
