Bobby Orr started playing hockey when he was five years old and began playing professionally at the age of 14. In 1966, at the age of 18, Orr joined the Boston Bruins and led them to two Stanley Cup titles, in 1970 and 1972, during his 10 seasons with the Bruins. In both victories, Orr scored the clinching goal and was named Stanley Cup Finals MVP. Orr is widely recognized as one of the greatest players of all time and his game-used equipment is second-to-none in hockey collectibles. During his 12-year career, he used his speed and play-making abilities to revolutionize his position. Orr remains the only defenseman to have won the league scoring title with two Art Ross Trophies and holds the record for most points and assists in a single season by a defenseman. Orr won a record eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the league’s best defenseman and three consecutive Hart Trophies as the league’s Most Valuable Player. He entered the Hall of Fame in 1979 at age 31. This classic dureen Wilson knit Bruins black road jersey has the size “50” added to the company tag in the neck. The characteristics, like the tagging in the neck, numbering, yolk and the jersey design are consistent with early 1970s game-worn jerseys. The Bruins patch appears on the front, along with pilling/wear at the cuffs, mainly the left, and interior pilling in the arms, shoulders and number regions. The defenseman’s numeral “4” has been applied in gold-on-white tackle twill on each shoulder as well as the verso, while the chest area is dominated by the Bruins’ signature eight-spoke logo in three-color tackle twill. The black garment sports the vintage lace-up collar, with multiple puck and stick marks to the bottom half of the jersey. There are several stains throughout, with one on the shirt collar, several on the bottom band and another on the right sleeve. The jersey has been thoroughly examined by Milton Byron of Byron’s Hockeyland, and arrives with a letter of authenticity, which reads: “The Bobby Orr #4 “A” black, Wilson size 50, knit Boston Bruins jersey that you showed me, is to the best of my knowledge a GAME-USED Bobby Orr jersey.”
