This 34" Rawlings Big Stick was used by Twins catcher Joe Mauer during his 2009 season, in which he won the AL MVP by hitting .365 with 28 home runs and 96 RBI. The bat shows heavy use with ball marks and ball stitch marks scattered througout the barrel. The handle is coated with a moderate coat of pine tar concentrated mostly around the center brand. The knob has "JM7" and "09" stamped into it, along with Mauer's last name and "32" written in blue marker and indicating the bat weighs 32 oz. The bat includes two MLB holograms, with one near the end of the barrel and one placed near the knob, and both indicating that the bat was obtained on Sept. 29, 2009 and that this was the bat that Mauer broke on a ground out in the top of the 8th off Justin Verlander during the second game of a double header in which the Twins lost 5-6 to the Tigers. Mauer went 1-4 with an RBI double during the game. A true rare gem from Mauer's MVP season and precisely documented usage by MLB.
