This is a large grouping of nice condition cards from the important Philadelphia Gum Football issues in the mid-1960’s as the card companies wrangled over the licensing rights between the entrenched National Football League and their emerging competitor the American Football League. From 1964-67, Philadelphia Gum printed regular-sized cards featuring NFL players, producing a wealth of key cards from many of the biggest names in the game at the time. This lot encompasses 47 cards from 1964 in mostly Excellent condition and some below, with a lineup that includes No. 12 Unitas, 72 Willie Davis and 124 Tittle. The 1965 aggregation of 40 cards – mostly Ex to Ex-Mt, with some below – includes No. 64 LeBeau (2), 76 Hornung, 79 Nitschke, 82 Taylor, 94 Olsen and 110 Tarkenton. A grouping of 90 cards from 1966 – mostly Good to Very Good, with some below - includes No. 24 Unitas (2), 31 Butkus, 32 Ditka, 38 Sayers, 39 Sayers (3), 58 Hayes (2, one Poor, one Fair), 197 Checklist and 198 Checklist. There are 67 cards in the final segment from 1967, in generally the same condition range as 1966, with No. 28 Butkus, 55 Lilly, 90 Jones and 94 Olsen.
