This extraordinary lot presents a unique opportunity for someone looking to upgrade even the nicest 1971 Topps Baseball set or launch on building a super condition set, an array of essentially Near-Mint to Near-Mint-to-Mint marvels, with the emphasis to the upper end of the range and with many of the top Hall of Famers included in the mix and no discernible difference in condition between the biggest stars and the rest of the broader group. Making the lot all the more breathtaking is the realization of the remarkable condition-sensitive nature of 1971 Topps, with the full-bleed vivid black borders making even the slightest nick or chip easily visible. The lineup features more than three dozen Hall of Famers, with some duplication included even in that august group. Almost five dozen of the HOFers and key cards have been broken out of third-party slabs – most typically PSA – with the labels included with the cards, and which offers a nice glimpse into the above described condition range.
