Here is a chance to close out the decade of the 1970’s of Topps baseball sets, and close out the final years of Topps’ 25-year monopoly in the baseball card manufacturing business that ran from 1956 to the arrival of Fleer and Donruss in 1981 and the explosive expansion of the hobby. The run from 1977-80 is remarkably consistent, with each year boasting bright colors and great gloss, basically Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint beauties, with arguably no difference between the Hall of Famers and stars and the rest in the broader condition range, with seemingly uncirculated and largely unimprovable cards. From the 1978 set the No. 36 Murray has been sent to grading; the 1979 set is missing the No. 115 Nolan Ryan card.
