This 38.1 oz. A.J. Reach bat dates to the 1912-17 labeling period and measures 34.875 inches long. The bat is uncracked and exhibits evidence of excellent use with some wood loss from the top barrel due to water damage. There are several ball marks visible on the right, left and back of the barrel. The handle had been taped approximately four inches in a spiral pattern, which matches other Crawford gamers, but the tape has been removed. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the handle. The bat has been graded PSA/DNA 6.5 by John Taube, who cited "we will attribute the bat to being used by Sam Crawford during the referenced labeling period. Vintage photography of Crawford on the field and in his home workshop picture him with bats having a tape application on the lower handle similar to this one.
