Presented here is a spectacular grouping of the famed Perez-Steele Great Moments cards, arguably one of the most impressive post-1981 issues that features the artwork of Dick Perez presented in the style of the iconic 1911 Turkey Red Cabinet cards. This lot boasts the first six series that was produced from 1985-90, with 12 cards in each series, 5 ¾-by-8 inches, featuring many of the greatest stars of the game. The six series are offered here in their original Perez-Steele boxes, with the Great Moments cards in largely unimprovable Near-Mint to Mint condition, with a handful of Ex-Mt cards – most notably Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson – seemingly resulting from a light touch to one corner produced by the placement in the original box, a fairly typical consequence of the issue. The six original boxes are in a complementary Near-Mint condition; with three of the boxes – Series 1, 2 and 6 – also having the original registration form and return envelope, all also in Near-Mint condition. All six boxes have the same serial number – No. 4493/5000.
