This is a really impressive grouping of five dozen cards from the coveted 1965Topps Football issue, the oversized beauties that constitute one of the company’s most unusual football offerings in its history. The cards in the lot – which represent about one third of the complete set – include a number of Hall of Famers, stars and specials and would be a wonderful start on building a high-grade complete set or for upgrading an existing one. The grouping is quite uniformly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with only a couple of cards falling to Excellent, and virtually all boasting strong corners, vivid background colors and good gloss. Here’s the breakdown: Near-Mint (17) – No. 1 Addison, 3 Buoniconti, 6, 18, 31, 58 o/c, 67, 76 o/c, 77 o/c, 85, 93, 105, 112, 114, 116, 151 o/c and 154 o/c; Ex-Mt (38) - No. 13, 29, 30, 36, 40, 43, 44 m/c, 54 o/c, 57 o/c, 59 o/c, 65 Taylor, 68 o/c, 79, 81 o/c, 83, 86 o/c, 89 o/c, 96, 97, 98, 101 o/c, 102 o/c, 103 o/c, 106 o/c, 111 o/c, 120 o/c, 121 Maynard o/c, 123 o/c, 126 o/c, 127, 128, 140 o/c, 145 Otto o/c, 163, 168 o/c, 169 o/c, 170 and 173 o/c; Ex-Plus – No. 174; Excellent (3) – No. 146 Powell, 167 (severe diamond cut) and 175 Wright.
