This lot is a handsome nod to vintage Topps Basketball, with a number of Hall of Famer singles and most notably with two Near Master Sets from the unique three-card perforated 1980-81 Topps issue, an array headlined by the monumental Bird-Erving-Magic cards, found here in matching PSA 6 holders. The amazing array from that quirky set is in stunning condition, 371 cards in all, seemingly missing only the van Breda Kolff-Bird-Magic cards, and basically Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint.
The second element is a group of nine NBA Hall of Famers from different years: 1972 Topps No. 120 Hayes – Nr-Mt o/c; 1973 Topps No. 100 Abdul-Jabbar – PSA 8 o/c and No. 150 Hayes – Ex-Mt; 1976 Topps No. 100 Abdul-Jabbar – Nr-Mt; and 1982 Topps No. 4 Bird (2, Near-Mint, one is off center), No. 21 Magic – Nr-Mt o/c and No. 30 Erving (2) – Nr-Mt.
The final component is a 1975-76 Topps Partial Set (261/330), in mostly Very Good to Excellent, with some above and below and the emphasis to Excellent. A breakdown of the Hall of Famers and keys: No. 1 Leaders – Ex, 37 Bradley – Ex-Mt, 55 Frazier – Ex, 61 Checklist – Very Good, 73 Monroe – Ex, 75 Maravich – Ex-Mt, 77 Walton – VG-Ex, 100 Barry – Ex, 164 McGinnis – Good, 165 – Good, 181 Checklist – presents VG, but marked, 195 Hawkins – Ex, 200 Haywood – Ex-Mt, 250 Gilmore – Good, 254 Malone – Ex-Mt, and 300 Erving – VG.
