This is a very nice grouping from the classic 1957 Topps Baseball issue, the first Topps offering in the now-standard 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch size and a natural starting point for thousands of serious collectors. This array is nicely distributed between all series and includes 29 cards from the difficult middle series. The condition range is generally Excellent to Ex-Mt, with a bit of the expected softening in the middle series; the breakdown is roughly 52 percent Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, 26 percent Excellent and about 22 percent below. Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog headlines a lineup loaded with All-Stars and stars, along with Team cards of the Red Sox, Red Legs, White Sox, Cardinals and Phillies. About six dozen cards have the kind of centering that might typically prompt an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center designation.
