Fiddling with the press run is a hobby tradition that dates back more than 100 years to the pesky Old Judges and then the interruption of Honus Wagner’s status in the 1909-11 T206 White Border issue, so it’s hardly damning that postwar Topps might have the occasional error to correct. This is an absolutely staggering array of either variations or simply tough cards from the card maker over the years, everything from white letter, yellow letters optioned clauses or Washington designations and lots more. Cards are in a wide condition range, generally Excellent to Ex-Mt, with some below and a few above, and condition improving a bit in later years, with the 1970’s closer to Ex-Mt to Near-Mint. Herewith are hundreds of Topps tough cards or variations from 15 different vintage sets. The lineup: 1958 Topps (6), mostly Good to Very Good, with Braves, Tigers, Orioles, Red Legs Team cards with alphabetical listings and Tigers and Red Legs Checklists; 1960 Topps Checklists (24), some are marked; 1961 Topps (6), three each of No. 463 Fisher and Braves Team; 1962 Topps (59), five Checklists and five No.129 Walls Plain Jersey; No. 134 Hoeft with three Blue Sky and three Green, No. 147 Kunkel with three Portrait and three Ball in Hand, No. 124 Willey With Cap and three with No Cap, No. 176 Yost with three Batting and three Portrait, and No. 190 Moon No Cap (4), plus (18) Ex-Mt to Near-Mint Checklists; 1963 Topps (51), with seven each of No. 29 and No. 54 Rookie Card Year Variations, (31) very nice Ex-Mt to Near-Mint Checklists (Series Two four Red, four Yellow), No. 341 Baldschun (4), three with White Slash variation, and No. 454 Fowler card number of White variation (2); 1965 Topps (8) Checklists; 1966 Topps (20) with No. 62 Uecker (2) With Trade Statement No. 104 Alex Johnson with No Trade Statement variation, and (17) Checklists; 1968 Topps (22), with three League Leader No. 10’s and 19 Checklists; 1969 Topps (17) with No. 47 both variations, No. 49 tough variation, No. 99 variations, No. 151 Dalrymple Phillies, No. 208 Clendenon Expos, No. 441 White Letter, No. 451 common variation, No. 473 common variation, No. 501 common variation (Poor) and No. 505 Bolin White Letter, plus (5) Checklists; 1970 Topps (9) Checklists; 1971 (13) Checklists; 1972 Topps (11), with both variations of Nos. 18, 29, 45 and 117, plus (3) Checklists; 1973 Topps (52), in most instances there are two cards of the easier variation and one of the tougher for Nos. 12, 49, 81, 116, 131, 136, 179, 237, 252, 257, 296, 323, 356, 377, 421, 449, 486 and 517; 1974 Topps (25), with most related to Washington variations – No. 32 (3), No. 77, No. 102 (2), No. 125 (2), No. 148, No. 173, No. 226 Team Card (2), plus No. 608 Rookies Incorrect variation (5) and No. 664 Alou (6), with one tough variation and five common.
