This is a lot that simply startles because of the sheer numbers, with hundreds of cards from each of the last eight years of Topps’ monopoly status in producing baseball cards. The cards are in wonderful overall condition, generally Ex to Ex-Mt for the first half of the decade then a dramatic upgrade for the final five years. The various groupings include a few Hall of Famers and an impressive number of stars, All-Stars and Specials. For the breakdown listed below, the card numbers are reasonable estimates. Breakdown: 1973 (400) – Mostly Excellent to Near-Mint, with some below, numbered up to around 540, with many stars and specials included; 1974 (1,400) – Very Good to Ex-Mt, with some above, including some duplication and around 200 of the Traded subset, many stars and specials, 50 or so of the Red Checklists and 11 Washington variations. About 2/3 of the array is a bit better, closer to Excellent to Ex-Mt, with some above and below; 1975 (250) – Wider condition range, but mostly Ex-Mt, with some reaching Near-Mint status and some below, including several dozen falling to Good or Very Good, with stars and specials in the mix; 1976 (500) – Generally Near-Mint or better, with some below, but a group seemingly from vending, wonderful cards with great color and gloss and a good deal of duplication; 1977 (2,300) – Even more clearly from vending, this array is Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with some below, including some Hall of Famers, stars and specials in a remarkable, high-grade presentation; 1978 (250) – same description as 1977; 1979 (800) – Again, same general assessment as the previous two years, but even a bit better in this case, Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint blazers, with about 100 or so of the group being O-Pee-Chees; 1980 (1,600) – Same description as the previous year. Stunners.
