Here are three sets that neatly tell the story of the Donruss launch into the baseball card business in 1981, all presented in blazing Mint condition, jostled only by the typical factory set centering. The inaugural 1981 set is complete at 630 cards and the next two years at 660; the 1981 issue includes the infamous error cards that earned the card maker – and its competitor Fleer - a good deal of notoriety at the time as 25 variations were added to address goofs made on a number of cards. The 1981 and 1983 sets come with the charming puzzles that were inserted into packs of the company’s cards in those early years.
