This spectacular sterling silver silver cup award was presented to Tigers great Mickey Lolich by the St. Louis Chapter of the Baseball Writers of American Association at their annual dinner in 1969, a pretty nice gesture when you consider how the left-hander had so rudely dispatched their hometown Cardinals in the 1968 World Series. The 5-inch high and 10-inch in diameter sterling silver cup sits majestically atop a 9-inch-square wooden base that adds another 6 inches to the presentation. A 5 ½-by-5-inch mirrored silver nameplate bears the BBWAA logo atop engraving that reads as follows: J. Roy Stockton Award for Outstanding Achievement in Baseball for 1968 to Mickey Lolich. All elements of the trophy appear to be essentially as-issued and problem free, with minimal tarnishing connected with the sterling silver bowl.
