Here is a nearly matched pair of the important 1981 Topps Football sets, with one set missing a single card (No. 480) and both boasting a spectacular Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint presentation that is essentially unimprovable, and with an emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum. Complete at 528 cards, the 1981 Topps Football issue is headlined by one of the most important Rookie cards of the decade, the No. 216 Joe Montana card, featured here in a condition that neatly conforms to the broader range. The two sets display great color and gloss, highlighting what are seemingly as-issued cards, with perhaps several dozen cards in each set with the kind of centering that might prompt thoughts of an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to necessarily dictate a formal off-center designation.
