This is an impressive group of the 1915 Cracker Jack cards, E145-2, that featured the great stars of the era in a fascinating 2 ½-by-3-inch cards that were produced on a thin card stock with colorized player photos on a blazing red background. Inserted in boxes of Cracker Jack in 1914 and 1915, the second year was also offered to collectors with an album through a mail-in offer. The issue is one of the most popular “E” sets in the hobby, further enhanced by inclusion of cards of Federal League players, the association created to challenge the existing major leagues by pirating the contracts of a number of the game’s biggest stars. The Federal League coincidentally mirrored the two years of Cracker Jack cards. This array includes a pair of Hall of Famers. The breakdown: No. 50 Hummel – Ex-Mt, No. 70 Clarke – Fair, No. 105 Lavender – VG-Ex, 114 Moriarity – VG-Ex, No. 127 Schmidt – Fair, No. 135 Maranville – Fair, and No. 149 Janvrin – Ex.
