Presented is an incredible Milwaukee Braves original jersey dating to the fabled club’s second year in the Great Midwest after bolting from Boston one year earlier. The shirt, featuring the highly coveted “Big Chief” patch on the left sleeve in simply stunning condition, is the zipper-front flannel road jersey with the red-and-black pin striping on collar and sleeves. The offered example has Wilson Size 42 tagging at the front, with cleaning instructions tagging and embroidered “Metkovich 54” on a team tag. This was the last year in the majors for Metkovich, who was an effective journeyman with a .261 lifetime average, 47 home runs and 373 RBI for six teams over 10 seasons. The accompanying pants bear tagging from two years later, with a bit more wear showing on the pin striping, including some fading, fraying and puckering. The Size 38 pants have Wilson tagging at the front and embroidered team tagging with “Trowbridge” at the inside back.
