Offered is an important complete set of the 1985 Star Co. cards that were released as individual team sets and compiled here at a whopping 288 cards, the largest total of the company’s brief but storied three-year tenure. The colorful Star Co. basketball issues sustained the basketball collecting arena for the interval of 1983-85 after the withdrawal of Topps and the arrival of Fleer in 1986. Produced in the conventional 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch size, the uniquely distributed cards are uniformly Near-Mint to Mint or better and display vivid color and gloss. Six of the key cards have been slabbed and graded by BGS, offering a nice glimpse into the broader condition range: No. 101 Jordan – BGS 7.5, No. 195 Jordan – BGS 8, No. 288 Jordan – BGS 8, No. 202 Barkley – BGS 9, No. 235 Stockton – BGS 9 and No. 237 Olajuwon – BGS 8. Typically offered as individual player or team sets, finding the entire 1985 Star Co. issue in such uniformly spectacular condition is a rare opportunity to secure an important and iconic issue from a key era in NBA history. The Star Co. issues bridged the gap from 1983-85 with products of singular quality, cards that were never issued in the conventional fashion in packs with gum but rather were sold in individual team or subset sealed bags through card dealers across the country.
