This is one of the coolest non-sport lots we have offered in a while, an enormous grouping of 10 complete sets in binders of elegant, high-grade non-sport cards from 1910-39 and then a whopping 600 or so additional cards (and a few transfers) from nearly two dozen different genres, with the latter group barely a whisper below in the broader condition range. Many of the complete sets from the 1930s are in Near-Mint condition; the entire group of sets offers a unique opportunity for a launch on a new collection or massive infusion to an existing one. The cards range a bit in dimensions, but are broadly 1 3/8-by-2 5/8 inches, with some larger sizes noted. The breakdown of sets (10): 1) 1910 Players Army Life Series of 25 – mostly VG-Ex, with a few Ex-Mt; 2) 1913 Wills Cigarettes Historic Events Series of 50 – VG-Ex, with a few below; 3) 1913 Characters From Thackery Series of 25 – VG-Ex, with a few Ex-Mt; 4) 1923 Players Cigarettes Characters From Dickens Series of 50 – VG-Ex, with some Ex-Mt; 5) 1928 Players Products of the World Series of 25 – generally Ex to Ex-Mt, with a few below; 6) 1934 London Cigarettes Film Favourites Series of 50 – Mostly Near-Mint; 7) 1934 Gallaher Tobacco Film Partners Series of 48 ( 1 ½-by-2 ½ inches) – generally Near-Mint, a few Ex-Mt; 8) 1935 Coronation Series of 50 – Ex to Ex-Mt, a few Near-Mint; 9) 1935 Silver Jubilee Series of 50 – Ex to Ex-Mt, a few Near-Mint; and 10) 1939 Copes Dickens Characters Series of 25 (2 ¼-by-3 inches) – Near-Mint. The massive group of extras (approx. 600) are broadly VG-Ex, with some better, and include a few transfers; Manufacturers include Wills Cigarettes, Godfrey, Phillips, Churchman, Gallaher and De Reszke. The Wills Cigarettes lineup includes cards from Flags & Empire, Air Raid Precautions, Roses, Old English Garden Flowers, Garden Hints, Wild Flowers, Do You Know?, Flowering Trees and Shrubs and Railway Engines. Some of the issues from the other publishers include Famous Crowns, Wild Animals, Camera Studies, Famous Jockeys, Aviary and Caged Birds, National Flags & Arms, and Derby and Grand National Winners.
