Classic Willard Mullin artwork adorns the cover of the historic first-ever New York Mets Souvenir Yearbook, offered here in spectacular Ex-Mt to Near-Mint condition, the 8 ½-by-11-inch artifact heralding the beginning of one of the most beloved franchises in major league history. The 50-page Yearbook features Mullin’s legendary pen-and-ink stylings of “Baby Met” (his grandson posed for the project) on the cover with the team’s blue-and-orange color scheme nicely previewed for The Faithful. On the first page of 48 black-and-white text and photos inside, the introduction notes that the club will be playing at Flushing Meadows Stadium the following year, and that the capacity – initially 55,000 – would eventually add 30,000 more seats once the dome was installed, making it an all-weather facility. From Casey Stengel to prospects like Evans Killeen and Roy Apple, the player profile assessments inside proved to have a more realistic approach to truthiness; nowhere is it predicted that the Metsies would lose 120 games.
