After he hung up his spikes following the 1960 campaign, Ted Williams – the noted sportsman, fisherman, hunter and maybe the greatest hitter who ever lived – formed a relationship with the giant retailer Sears, joining the company’s famed Sports Advisory Board and affixing his name and reputation to many dozens of products that would wind up on the store shelves and in the iconic catalog. Offered here is a set of football shoulder pads that appear to be in Excellent overall condition, with original stringing intact, and featuring the Ted Williams 2-by-1-inch nameplate with facsimile autograph (Very Good condition). It’s an intriguing, albeit unusual artifact linked to the fabled retailer and the Hall of Famer who helped to promote their sporting goods for generations.
