Presented is an important lot of three individual-player sets from the colorful Star Co. basketball issues that sustained the basketball collecting arena for the interval of 1983-85 after the withdrawal of Topps and the arrival of Fleer three years later. The three sets feature Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Larry Bird, each complete at 18 cards in the conventional 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch size, uniformly Near-Mint to Mint or better and displaying vivid color and gloss. The Star Co. issues bridged the gap from 1983-85 with products of singular quality, cards that were never issued in the conventional fashion in packs with gum but rather were sold in individual team or subset sealed bags through card dealers across the country.
