Presented is an important lot of three team sets from the colorful Star Co. basketball issues that sustained the basketball collecting arena for the interval of 1983-85 after the withdrawal of Topps and the arrival of Fleer three years later. The three team sets represent the Celtics, Lakers and 76ers, arguably the three most popular franchises of the era, complete at 18 cards for the 1986 Lakers and at 25 cards each for the 1984 Celtics and 76ers. Cards are in the conventional 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch size, uniformly Near-Mint to Mint or better and displaying vivid color and gloss. The Star Co. cards were never issued in the conventional fashion in packs with gum but rather were sold in individual team or subset sealed bags through card dealers across the country.
