For your consideration: a First Edition of arguably one of the most important pieces of literature connected to the game of baseball at the turn of the century, A.G. Spalding’s epic America’s National Game, found here in simply sensational Ex-Mt condition, with striking black-and-white plates of early players and 542 pages. The hardcover edition is Ex-Mt-Plus, with just the barest whispers of wear to a couple of corners and around the spine, and exceptional gold-leaf embossing on the cover, plus uncommonly clean and undisturbed inside pages. Spalding’s book details the game’s colorful history back to the middle of the 19th century, utilizing the archival prowess of yet another Baseball Hall of Famer, Henry Chadwick, in a tome that is pretty uniformly held in great esteem.
