Given the tenuous ability of the youth of America to carefully remove perforated cards from a booklet, the condition of this complete set from the 1961 Golden Press Series is all the more impressive. Complete at 33 cards in the traditional 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch format, these perforated cards are largely Excellent to Near-Mint, with only nine cards below the range, and most of those presenting better than their technical grade. The breakdown: Near-Mint (10) – No. 6 Hubbell, 17 Grove, 20 Simmons, 21 Baker, 22 Foxx, 24 Mathewson, 25 Cobb, 26 Vance, 27 Dickey and 28 Collins; Ex-Mt (11) – No. 1 Ott, 2 Alexander, 3 Ruth, 5 Terry, 16 Gehrig, 18 Bender, 23 McGraw, 29 Johnson, 31 Lajoie, 32 Wagner and 33 Young; Excellent (3) – No. 4 Greenberg, 15 Traynor and 30 Speaker; VG-Ex (2) – No. 8 Dean and No. 12 Cochrane; Very Good (5) – No. 7 Hornsby, 9 DiMaggio, 10 Gehringer, 13 Sisler and 14 Cronin; and Good (2) – No. 11 Hartnett and No. 19 Frisch.
