Presented is a signed contract from 17-year major-league veteran Earl Whitehill for use of his name on gloves or mitts from the famed Draper-Maynard Company of Plymouth, N.H. The single-page contract on Draper-Maynard letterhead notes that Whitehill will be supplied gloves or mitts according to his specifications for the princely sum of $1 each. In accordance with that, Draper-Maynard was allowed to use his name on gloves, mitts or advertising materials. Dated July 29, 1932, the letter bears a handsome “E. Whitehill” autograph making it all legal. The 8 ¼-by-11-inch contract presents in Ex-Mt fashion. Whitehill was one of the most successful left handers of his era, amassing a 218-185 lifetime log with four clubs over his career, most prominently with Detroit and later the Senators, Indians and Cubs. Basic COA from BAS.
