November 18, 2021: Fall Auction

Presented is an impressive group of a similarly impressive baseball card issue, the revolutionary 1989 Upper Deck set that parlayed advanced technology and photography with an inspired choice for the No. 1 card in the set to great effect. The result is the iconic issue that startled a generation of older hobbyists with a $1 per-pack price point that seemed outlandish at the time but turned out to be merely a starting point of a new collecting genre. The offered group is 11 factory sets, with one in a binder, three in boxes and seven in factory-sealed boxes with original cellophane intact. One innocent Ken Griffey Rookie apparently received some nominal handling and wound up with a Very Good designation.
