Presented is a nice, collectible example of the 1953 Johnston Cookies Milwaukee Braves issue, the important inaugural set that launched a three-year run of the quirky food issue that celebrated the city’s infatuation with its newly installed major-league franchise. The 2 9/16-by-3 5/8-inch cards are in mostly Very Good condition, with some below to Good. The breakdown: No. 1 Grimm – Fair, 5 Burdette – Good, 10 Spahn – Very Good (with ballpoint pen autograph), 17 Adcock – VG-Ex, 20 Logan – Fair, 21 Mathews – VG, 22 Bruton – VG-Ex and 24 Pafko – Good.
