November 18, 2021: Fall Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/18/2021
Offered are nine cards from one of the truly difficult 1950s regional food issues, the 1956 Rodeo Meats Athletics set that was the company’s second effort to mark the arrival of the newly transplanted Philadelphia Athletics to the Midwest a year earlier. The group of nine cards includes four with genuine autographs. The unnumbered, standard-size cards bravely bore the indignity of being issued alongside of Rodeo Meats hot dogs, making condition concerns a major element in pursuing the set. Here’s the breakdown, with autographs noted: DeMaestri (Autograph) – Poor, DeMaestri – Very Good, Ditmar (Autograph) – Poor, Ditmar – Good, Lopez (Autograph) – Fair, Slaughter (Autograph) – Fair, Slaughter – Good, Bobby Shantz – Fair and Zernial – Very Good.
