Presented is the companion piece to an adjacent lot of the 1941 Gum Inc. R158 Uncle Sam/Home Defense, the unique dual element issue that showcased the four branches of the U.S. Military and also the civilian defense efforts in attractive, colorful artwork on 2 ½-by-3 1/8-inch cards. This is the Home Defense subset that focuses on the civilian preparedness aspect as the United States braced for entrance into World War II and is found here in an attractive, consistent presentation that is numbered from 97-144, with the Uncle Sam component comprising the first 96 numbers. The second half of the issue from Nos. 121-144 are short printed, creating genuine scarcities for these quirky, coveted cards. This Home Defense section comes out to 25 percent Excellent, 42 percent Very Good, 26 percent Good and just 7 percent below.
