November 18, 2021: Fall Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/18/2021
Offered is a handsome catcher’s mitt linked to the Detroit Tigers’ glory days in the late 1960s when the club won a pair of American League pennants and a World Series crown. The mitt was worn by Jim Price, the backup catcher who saw limited time filling in for All-Star backstop Bill Freehan and after his playing days became a fixture for the club in the broadcast booth. The Rawlings mitt shows extensive wear, with “Price” written in marker on the outer side of the mitt twice, on the top of the webbing and on the forefinger. This glove will arrive with a signed LOA from Jim Price.
