Here’s the unique 1959 Fleer Life of Ted Williams issue, the unprecedented single-player set that marked the signing of The Splendid Splinter to an exclusive five-year contract with the Philadelphia-based Fleer. The set, typically regarded as complete at 79 cards because of the extraordinary rarity of the No. 68 Ted Signs card that was pulled from production due to litigation with Topps, has the super-tough card included in the lineup here, coming in at a blazing PSA 7 Near-Mint blessing. The remaining 79 cards are in a similarly amazing, virtually unimprovable Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint condition, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum. The array boasts wonderful colors and exceptionally clean and consistent backs, with all of the key cards that are pictured here conforming to the wider condition range, making for a remarkably uniform and attractive presentation. It’s the finest 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set we've ever offered, a six-decades-old beauty that would have simply been described as Mint as recently as 1990 or so, made all the more impressive by the inclusion of the most-difficult and expensive card in the issue.
