Presented is a handsome game-worn home knit jersey from Cardinals’ hurler Greg Mathews, a shirt dated to 1989 but with wear attributed to the pitcher for 1990 when he posted 10 starts for St. Louis. The shirt shows excellent wear, notably on the numerals and NOB, and includes a striking black Sharpie autograph on the back between the numbers. The V-neck shirt has Navy/White/Red and Red/White/Navy sleeve-end accents. The famed Cardinals’ script motif with Birds and Bat in stunning three-color chenille stitching is on the front and his No. 53 numerals and NOB in red-on-navy tackle twill. The left sleeve has the rounded edge embroidered knit patch noting the passing of Augie Busch. Rawlings Size 44 white label appears with tandem “1989 1” swatch.
