Here are three Chicago Cubs pregame jerseys from the 1980s and a fourth from the Peoria Chiefs, the Cubs minor-league affiliate in 1990. All are game-worn, with the fourth jersey with Peoria replacing “Chicago” on the shirt front. The pregame jerseys reveal solid wear and have possible linkages to a number of different players (noted below), while the Peoria jersey is linked to a minor leaguer. Here’s the breakdown: 1) 1983-86 Chicago Cubs blue-mesh pregame jersey, with ribbed knit V-neck collar and sleeve accents with royal-blue and white, with Cubs’ crest logo on the left chest. The right underarm has a 3-inch tear and the No. 24 is not the usual rounded-font used by the Cubs on game jerseys, possibly renumbered with a different font at the major-league level or spring training complex. Collar has the MLB Majestic flap tag with washing instructions and tail Majestic label zig-zag affixed in blue and yellow stitching. Possible player linkages include Jerry Morales (1983), Billy Hatcher (1984) or Brian Dayett (1985 or 1986).; 2) 1983-85 Chicago Cubs blue-mesh pregame jersey, with ribbed knit V-neck collar and sleeve accents with royal-blue and white, with Cubs’ crest logo on the left chest. The No. 15 is on the back in Cubs font tackle twill and zig-zag affixed. The collar label is torn out and a Majestic label is at the tail. The shirt, with possible linkages to Junior Kennedy or Mike Diaz, shows solid wear to the label and numeral.; 3) Chicago Cubs blue-mesh pregame jersey, with ribbed knit V-neck collar and sleeve accents with royal-blue and white, with Chicago Cubs crest logo on the left chest. The No. 20 is on the back in Cubs font tackle twill and zig-zag affixed. Collar flap tags include the MLB logo and Majestic, with Majestic tail label zig-zag affixed. The shirt shows season-long label wear at the collar and tail and surface wear at the crest and numerals; the possible player linkages include Wayne Nordhagen, Thad Bosley or Bob Dernier.: and 4) 1990 Peoria Cubs road jersey, a heavyweight knit with six-button front and “Peoria” on the front, with faint outline traces of small-font “Chicago” visible from the interior. The nameplate has been replaced with “Arnold” zig-zag affixed. Left sleeve has the “Cubs” patch affixed in a tight zigzag and the right sleeve has the Peoria 1691-1991 Tricentennial logo is straight-stitched over a mini-print Rawlings script logo. The No. 4 on the back is probably changed from an original number; the NOB Arnold is likely from Peoria use. Rawlings Size 42 label is at the collar, with flap tag “Set 1 1990.”
