Presented are five dozen cards from the most important non-sport issue of the Depression Era, the classic Indian Gum set, found here in fairly typical wide condition range of primarily Fair to Good, with some above and below the range. Printed in the then-standard Goudey dimensions of 2 3/8-by-2 7/8 inches that matched the legendary Goudey baseball-card sets from the period, the non-sport treasure featured remarkably vivid and colorful artwork depicting chiefs, warriors, soldiers, tribes, rituals and famous battles; some of the biggest names in the issue are featured in the mix, including Geronimo, Buffalo Bill (2), Pocahontas, Jim Bridges and Capt. Fremont. The offered group represents about 27 percent of a complete set and would make a great launch on completing one of the prized non-sport issues of any era. Overall, it comes out to approximately 37 percent Good, 40 percent Fair and about ½ dozen cards above and below the range. It should be noted that for some of the cards adjudged Fair, their presentation is often far better but they wind up with the lower grade because of afflictions to the back of the card.
