Here are almost a dozen cards from the iconic 1941 Play Ball Baseball issue, the classic and colorful 2 ½-by-3 1/8-inch cards that proved to be the last mainstream baseball card issued as World War II approached. The offered group includes several important stars of the era and is found in overall grades a bit better than these iconic cards are typically encountered in mature collections. The breakdown: No. 2 West – Excellent, 3 Walters – Ex, 4 Derringer – Very Good, 7 Danning – Ex, 9 May – VG, 12 Brown – VG-Ex, 16 Trosky – Ex-Mt o/c, 22 Johnson – Ex, 23 McQuinn – Ex and 24 Leonard (2) – Ex and Good.
