Here is a pair of cards from probably the most-beloved figure in postwar MLB, Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, represented here by two of his important Specials from the iconic 1961 and 1962 Topps baseball issues. For a player so popular that his many Specials often approach the value and collectability of other players’ regular-issue cards, this is a particularly notable group, with his Ex-Mt No. 307 Mantle Slams Two Homers from the World Series subset one of the keys to the set; a similar pronouncement could be made about the Ex-Mt-Plus No. 318 Switch Hitter Connects from 1962 Topps, easily the most valuable card in that issue’s Baseball Thrills subset in Series Four.
