Here’s a veritable potpourri of busts, bats, banks and plastic figures, most in a highly collectible condition and all boasting the vintage patina of classic 1950s and 1960s peripheral magic. Ten of the quirky Hall of Fame Plastic Busts headline, the 6 ½-inch offerings that were sold at the Hall and at major league stadiums, represented here by a nice array of mostly Ex-Mt or better specimens, with a bit of dust and grime on some but truly outstanding overall: the lineup includes Cochrane, Cronin, Dickey, Hornsby, Johnson, Ruth (some scuffing to the plaque), Sisler, Traynor, Mathewson and Wagner. That group is complemented by eight of the three-inch plastic figures from the mid-1950s, divided equally between four of the 1955 Robert Gould All-Star Figures and four of the 1956 Dairy Queen. Here’s the breakdown (figures are broadly Ex-Mt or better, with just a touch of dirt or grime to some: four Robert Goulds – Thomson, Bell, Busby and Parnell, and four Dairy Queen – Mathews, Lemon, Campanella and Antonelli. The five souvenir bats include four 16-inches and one at 18 inches: 1) Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger blonde 16-inch bat, with “Al Schacht NY City” on barrel – Near-Mint; 2) H & B 16-inch brown bats (2) – Ex-Mt, 3) brown bat with “Senators” on the barrel – Excellent-Plus; and 4) brown 18-inch bat with “Little Giant” on barrel – Excellent. The final element in the lot is a 3 ½-inch plastic baseball bank, First National Bank of Fort Smith, Ark., undated, with 10 St. Louis Cardinals facsimile signatures, including Keane, Gibson, White, Flood, Shannon, McCarver, Groat, Warwick, James and Jackson, with bank in VG-Ex condition.
